Invite your MP to the Disabled Children’s Partnership SEND Toolkit Parliamentary Event
29/10/2024
The Disabled Children's Partnership (DCP) is a coalition of more than 120 charities campaigning for better support for disabled children, young people and their families.
In September, they wrote to all MPs across England to share their SEND Toolkit. This is an on-line document created with young people, parents and experts from the sector to support MPs with their SEND Casework.
They are now calling for MPs from every party to join then at a parliamentary drop-in event on World Children’s Day (20 November) to represent SEND children and families in their constituencies. The event will give MPs the opportunity to hear directly from parents, young people and representatives from the DCP.
When DCP surveyed MPs last year they highlighted SEND as being a recurring topic in their casework, with many MPs reporting the complexity of the cases they were contacted about. The Toolkit aims to support said casework. It has been developed by working across the DCP, with parent carers and with young people to ensure that a broad range of subjects are covered.
DCP have been sharing the Toolkit with MPs since September, but wanted to use the upcoming event as a chance to develop relationships with new and returning MPs.
