Shropshire Co-production Framework Launch - 4th April 2025
05/04/2025
PACC were please to co host the launch of the Shropshire Co-production Framework on the 4th April 2025. The Co-production Framework is all age and applies to all of Shropshire Council activity. It was co-produced with Shropshire Council, the Shropshire Making it Real Board and PACC. The Framework ensures a shared understanding of what Co-production means in Shropshire and outlines the key principle that will be embedded in all Shropshire Council activity to deliver co-production at all levels. This is the first step in creating a culture where co-production can grow and develop, ensuring that the voice of those who draw on care and support are central to all decision making, at all levels.

The launch was well attended with Council representatives from both Adults and Children’s Services, alongside disabled people, family carers and parent carers. The event was opened by David Shaw (Director of Children’s Services) and Sarah Thomas (PACC’s Influence & Change Strategic Lead) – you can read Sarah’s observations on the importance of the Framework and what needs to happen next to actually deliver Co-production in Shropshire here.
The event included short presentations by;
Shropshire Shared Lives Team: talking about the importance of co-production at an individual level, listening to those who draw on care and support about what is important to them and how they want to live their lives (Individual Coproduction).
Energize & Disability Rights UK: Introducing the ‘Get Yourself Active – Shropshire’ project, which aims to increase opportunities for disabled people to be physically active and to ensure the inclusion of physical activity opportunities in care and support plans (Operational Co-production). You can see this presentation here
Shropshire Early Help Team: sharing the participation strategy for Children Services, outlining the commitment to ensure the voice of Shropshire’s children and young people is heard and will inform services and decision making (Strategic Coproduction).
Is This Coproduction? Quiz: PACC provided a number of scenarios and asked those present to decide if they represented co-production or not? You can read this presentation here
Embedding Coproduction - How do we do this?: Those present were provided with Social Centre for Excellence & Innovation recommendations for delivering co-production in practice and asked ‘How do we do this & what does this look like?’ for each of the different levels of co-production. You can read the recommendations here. The feedback will be written up and will contribute to how co-production is implemented in Shropshire.
